How This Works
We spend so many years learning skills to improve our careers and hobbies, yet few of us get much opportunity to learn the skills that actually matter for building a healthy relationship. It's assumed we should somehow just know. What a setup.
Many couples don't know what to talk about — and even when they do, it can feel uncomfortable or unclear how to have those conversations effectively.
This short exercise is a way to get a sense of the key relationship topics and how comfortable you each feel discussing them. Think of it as a starting point — a way to see where you're already strong and where it might be worth paying more attention.
Here's how it works:
1. Download the worksheet in the next section — print one copy each or complete it separately on screen.
2. Each partner independently selects three Strength Areas (where you feel most aligned) and three Growth Areas (where you'd most like to improve).
3. Once you've both finished, come together and share your responses — one at a time, taking turns.
4. Use the discussion questions at the end of the worksheet to guide your conversation.
The whole exercise takes about 20 minutes and often opens up conversations couples haven't had before.
If you'd like to go deeper, the PREPARE/ENRICH Assessment + Debrief gives you a personalised, research-based picture of your relationship — with a 90-minute session to walk through it together.
